Wow, a great find in the deep forests in Germany.
It was a super dry and hot summer, both in Germany and The Netherlands. This stream has been dry for almost 8 months and started running a very low amount, but at least its going again.
The very small water bed gave me the opportunity to set op my gear at the same place as the stream. You can see the moss that is growing and almost glowing on the roots of the trees.
Germany, Externsteine
Where the witches come to haunt the rock at night .
Externsteine is a unique and fascinating natural formation located in the Teutoburg Forest in Germany. The towering sandstone pillars, which rise up to 38 meters high, have captivated the attention of photographers and visitors alike for centuries.
The Externsteine formation is believed to have been formed over 20 million years ago, during the Tertiary period. The sandstone pillars are made up of layers of rock that have been shaped and sculpted by erosion, wind, and water. The result is a stunning natural wonder that is truly a photographer's dream.
One of the most striking features of Externsteine is the intricate patterns and textures that cover the pillars. The sandstone is etched with deep grooves and crevices, and is adorned with a variety of different colors, from rich reds and oranges to soft grays and whites. This makes for endless opportunities to capture unique and striking images of the formation.
Another aspect that makes Externsteine so appealing to photographers is the way the pillars are arranged. They stand in a line, as if they are sentinels guarding the forest. This creates a sense of drama and scale that is difficult to replicate in other natural settings.
In addition to the natural beauty of Externsteine, the area is also steeped in history and legend. The formation is believed to have been a sacred site for the ancient Germanic tribes, and it has been associated with the legendary figure of Hermann the German. This adds an extra layer of interest to the photography opportunities at Externsteine, as photographers can capture images that not only showcase the natural beauty of the site, but also its rich cultural and historical significance.
Externsteine is a must-see destination for photographers of all levels. Whether you're a professional photographer looking for new and unique subjects to capture, or a hobbyist looking for an awe-inspiring natural wonder to photograph, Externsteine is sure to inspire and delight. Germany, Eifel, 2018.
Somewhere in the valley’s of the Eifel, I found the empty river running slowly during a hot summer. The bridged where build just before the war around 1937 and give access to old ruins on top of the hills.
I love the way nature and the archicture of the bridges come together. From the right angle you can see an eye in the arches of the bridges. The reflection on the water is creating a circle figure.
Germany, Eifel, Burg Eltz,
from another point of view, you can see a totally different castle. Many pictures are taking from the same spot: in front of the gate. I choose a bit different angle, by finding a natural see-through from bushes along the road in the mountains surrounding the burg Eltz.
This party of the city is now Unesco World heritage sight, called Speicherstadt. In Hamburg you can wander for hours and hours. Its a great city with loads of history, and beautiful buildings. Also the food is pretty tasty
Can you imagine sitting in a ski gondola, bringing you up the mountain at night, staring at the bright light? Feels like you going to heaven maybe?
The shot that I took in Italy sure made me give that feeling. I wanted to try it out, but was to distant from going to that place. A bit later, some professional skiers came down the skisloper performing some nice skying show and the show was ended with fireworks ( pretty awesome!)
A Romantic bench at a lake on the boarder of Germany and Austria.
The lake was covered in a beautiful layer of Fog. A pair of Swans came flying in ( I was just in time to change my Lens from 24-77mm to 100-400mm for that).
The perfect setting to sit, watch and enjoy the peaceful nature that is surrounding you in these Alps.
Berlin, 2016.
Traveling to Berlin is always an inspiration for creativity. Berlin has a really cool startup scene, art scene and old school scene.
In this image I tried capturing the old school scene of Berlin by having a lot of classic elements in the frame. The Peugeot 304 Cabrio that you see here, is a very rare car, especially in this condition.
With a long expo ( hand-held, no tripod) I could create an image that has movement and the lines of the street, bridge and the cars emphasize this movement. Shot with a 14mm wide angle lens.
Europe, Berlin, 2017.
At the monument made to remember all the lost Jews, during the second world war, you can almost loose yourself in all the corridors and small paths that leed to nowhere.
When you are there you tend to put your camera at the standard position, that is straight forward, and try to capture the power of the concrete blocks. I don't believe that is really possible, without looking up and making the picture from the bottom up!
Europe, Berlin, 2017.
Near the Alexanderplatz in Berlin, you can find this Berlin Franciscan Abbey, Franziskaner-Klosterkirche. It has been bombed during the second World-war back in 1945. Lucky, they managed to save a big part of the external walls, giving us the opportunity of seeing this 15 century old church.
I looked up and took this shot with a wide-angle lens so you are really feeling the hight of this church.
Europe, Germany, Berlin, 2017.
This is the high tower of the Teufelsberg Radarstation. It is quite abandoned but also visited by a lot of tourists. If you have camera gear you pay a sum of not less then 15,- EUR.
The building it self is full of Graffiti artist that have painted every wall and it looks amazing. If you go up all the stairs into this tower, you will be amazing by something quite spectacular. And it is not the view..
