When driving around in Tuscana, one thinks to it selfs: where should I stop to make a photo, because let’s face it; almost all places in Tuscany are beautiful and worth stopping.
We drove to a little chapel called Chapel Vitaleta, what should be a highlight, but, after so many tourist and photographers ( yes including me) have visited the place, the area is completely damages, no more grass is growing and someone thought it was a good idea to put contemporary art in front of this beautiful chapel. Bad choice, very bad.
Once we where on our way to yet another must-see place, the Cipressi di San Quirico d'Orcia, we found this to be an ever worse place. Some idiot thought it was a great idea to put a statue of art in the middle of the trees.. Ugly and so unnecessary. Take your ugly ‘art’ somewhere rural.
Ok, so our final stop this evening, just before sunset ( I hardly had time to get my tripod out of my pocket), we found this spot, bound to be a great photography place for epic scenery pictures. It finally did not disappoint.
Next time when I am back, I’ll go to explore the area myself and wont stop at the famous instagram places. Man o Man does our need to share places fuck things up in nature/ landscapes. ( and yes, I am also part of it)
Not often will you see such a strong, beautiful and amazing decor of lights, architecture ( renaissance) and mountain areas.
The sunset is just perfect, when everything around lights up like its Christmas and the city’s governance added very important light to highlight this building, created already in 1296
Kathedraal van Florence (Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore)
Ceiling of light.
In Bergamo you have to go into the many churches or cathedrals, to have a look at the amazing places inside the churches. This is from the main cathedral ceiling in black and white.
Firenze Duomo:
One thing you cant miss when visiting Italy, is to checkout Firenze.
This city is just breathtakingly beautiful. Old cathedrals, the ponte vecchio, amazing food and of course, the best view in Italy over the city center.
Into faith.
I am not a religious man. But I sure do understand why mankind has created this incredible churches all around the world. It is not only a house of God, but especially a place where you feel peace and your can be impressed by what mankind can create. Really impressive to see this work from so long ago, with so much detail.
Santuario Madonna di Tirano.
In a small town called Tirano, somewhere in the mountains of Italy, lies a beautiful church with a great square. It is a typical church that is the center of this town.
Ragione Palace.
Interesting view of the Ragione Palace square, in City Alta in, Bergamo.
This place is really cool, especially if you walk around the many small streets and look at the beautiful and well architectured buildings from hundreds of years ago.
Italy, Bergamo, Citaalta, 2018.
In the old town you can find a lot of great historical buildings, that have not been ruined by the war. Happy to see that they maintain the quality of the building from hundreds of years ago and manage to preserve them for future generations to see.
Italy, Lago di Como, 2017.
Visiting Italy is always the perfect moment to capture beautiful images of landscapes, buildings, architecture and nature.
Here we visited Lago di Como with my friend Ton Kuper. We both have different camera's and lenses, resulting in different pictures.
In the back of this images you can spot the legs of the Alps and in the front a small Lake town.
This is Bergamo. The city that was hit very hard by the 2020 Covid Crisis. I was here just before that happend, in the beginning of February 2020.
This shot is made from the west overlooking the city’s citadel that lies on top of a hill.
One of many castles to visit is this Castel Trostburg in Italy.
Its situated on the lower mountains of the Dolomite’s and its free to visit.
Welcome to Vernazza in Cinque Terre.
The area of the national park Cinque Terre is amazing and beautiful. Many tourist travel to these amazing villages on the coast of Italy and they have something very romantic and historical. Fishermen, old town, stairways and tiny corridors give it a very nostalgic feeling.
We found a lake next to an old town called Barrea. This is just 1 of many beautiful and very attractive places in abruzzo.
Italy, The Amalfi Coast:
It’s such a great pleasure, traveling the country Italy by car. seeing so many different places has kept us going for weeks and now, at the most southern point of our trip, we found the famous Amalfi Coast.
The coast line is really breathtaking. I am not much of touristic places, but this is definitely worth a visit.
On this picture, I want to show you the beautiful location of Amalfi Coast.
The village you see here is next to Amalfi and even better for taking sunset pictures. I am sure that with sunrise, incredible pictures are easily made too. The town is called Atrani, and you have a view on the Collegiate Santa Maria Maddalena.
After a climb to the famous Rocca Calascio, a castle from the 10-14th century ( destroyed by a massive earthquake and never rebuild), you also have an incredible view on the abruzzo landscape, and on this chapel build in the seventeenth century, called Church Santa Maria della Pietà. The light that shines on this place is one of the best of the area. The clouds come and go and patience is needed but when lucky, the rays of sun do what they do best; bring gold and shadows upon magnificent buildings, old or new and highlight their beauty
Build around 1460, this castle has a non-typical building structure. Its location is great for overlooking a low field, now used for crops, but before 1878 it was one of the 3 biggest lakes of Italy, Fucine Lake.
The Angles bridge as its called in Italy and know by many tourists.
I went down the stairs, overlooking the Vatican and along the river I walked to get a good spot next to the Castel Sant'Angelo.
The sun was just setting and beautiful clouds where drifting in the city of Rome. The water level is low in the summer so reflections where at a minimum but still very cool
Rome in all its glory. The St. Angelo Bridge is one of the cities highlights, as its location is just in front of the Vatican city, where the view from the Tiber River is setting the perfect landscape picture of the cityscape of Rome. The dome in the background is the roof of the St. Peter's Basilica.
A great ancient bridge, build around 1350, that did not survive the II WW and was rebuild around 1950. This was back then the biggest segmental arched bridge.
On the south hill side of Florence you have the best view on the city’s historical center. Especially worth going either with sunrise or sunset, here you can also overlook the mountain hills and catch the best sunset
