Bird at Kinderdijk.
A great catch on a typical cloudy day in the Netherlands. I have been to Kinderdijk many times before and its always, even with a grey cloudy and windy day, a great photogenic place.
The windmills, the fields and the water, shows how holland was a long time ago. Most of these mills date back to around 17th century.
What you can see here flying out the fields are the starlings, making a run for it. They fly out from the bushes in thousands at once and make the most insane figures.
India, At the dawn of day at this lake in the south of India, I watched this bird, a cormorant, drying its feathers in the sunrise early morning. You can still see the fog rising up from the lake. A beautiful sight to witness.
In this photo I choose to let the dead tree and bird be silhouettes instead of overnighting the image so you can see structure and shadow.

Sitting in the early morning sun, the Bee-eater is waiting for small bee's and other insects to come alive during the morning hours and go hunting.
This one sat so nice on the edge of the branche, and I was peddeling on a small canoe towards it.

I was sitting silently in a bird house, waiting for this Grey Heron to go and fish for food, early morning at a lake in Holland.
We were so lucky, seeing the Kingfisher, Grey Heron and other beautiful bird species, that are living in The Netherlands.
This grey heron was entertaining me for an hour or 2. He caught fish, showed his best moves and at one point even give me the Tongue

A small Kingfisher, sitting on a branch waiting for a fish to get caught by him.
Beautiful detailed capture of this tiny bird, sitting just 3 meters away from our birdhut. The kingfisher was gone for a while, but now is back in Holland and the numbers are increasing!

Sitting on a small branch, waiting for the flys or bugs, so another meal presents itself.
1 of my most favorite birds, incredible colors and their wings are just perfect for direct flight changing due to the delta shape.

Wow what a bird! This African Fish Eagle is just majestic!
It sits on a dead tree, looking over a fast area of rivers and lands and is looking for fish to catch.
It was successful, cause after 30 min it had catched a nice juicy fish.

Early morning we caught this Brown snake Eagle sitting in the morning sun and looking for a delicious snake to catch.
Their feathers are completely brown.

A beautiful bird, the Lilac breasted roller from Africa.
Here sitting on a branch, waiting to make another attempt to find food.

A fine example of the Superb Starling. These birds live rather close to humans and are very bright colored. I find it funny that both the chain and the pole or in the same colors as its feathers.. coincidence?
Africa, Ruaha National park, Tanzania, 2015.
Just when this big bird was ready for take-off I captured it.
Love this pose and the details you see in the feathers.

The European Robin, just spotted between branches of a green spar.
It is one of the birds you can find all over Europe, but when it is singing, is sound like a unique bird.

Paddling on a lake near the city of Mirissa, you find the most exotic birds. Here you see the famous King-fisher. They move super fast, catch small pray and sit on branches to wait for a fish to get caught by it.
Sri Lanka, Yala National park, 2017
at 1 of the parkingplaces at Yala Nationalpark, you can get off the jeepsafari and walk around a bit. It is a place where you can also find hummingbirds eating of the flowers and taking the nectarine. I never saw 1 in real life and it was beautiful how these little birds hover around a flower.
Also I managed to catch the motion of the wings, because there was enough light, thus giving me the opportunity to set my shutterspeed at a very high speed.

Sitting on a log, overlooking a small pond, and scanning for fish. The Brown Hammerhead bird is not the prettiest bird, but, when shooting a close up, you can find interesting details on the bird.
The Brown Hammerhead bird got it's name cause of the hair on the back of his head. When looking en-profil, you see the shape of a hammer.
