One of those pictures you need to have in your collection; That of flowing lights in a city where highways merge and create a perfect dance of headlights and taillights.

Capela do Senhor da Pedra Starburst

Capela do Senhor da Pedra Starburst

When going to see this landmark, one cannot understand how this place hasn’t been swept away by the power of the Atlantic ocean. The chapel shows great resistance to the ocean after being there for more than 300 years.

The light on this picture, was from the undergoing sun, giving a sunburst by using a low aperture of around 20. The Seagull completes the image with a beach like atmosphere and a stunning Capela do Senhor da Pedra.

Strong colors at Capela do Senhor da Pedra

One of the best moment to catch this Strong colors at Capela do Senhor da Pedra, is when the sun is already down. Most people go back home and miss the opportunity of catching this incredible light show. There is a small river from the land entering the ocean, and with the right angle you can catch this reflection from the water and all the colors around you pop up

Space mountain

Space mountain

Portugal, Ericeira, Praia do Norte 2016.

On the beach of Praia do norte, there are a very few rocks left, fallen of from the coast line. They give a great alien like look when capturing from a different angle. Here I had a great sunset helping me give color to the image.

The waves that came rolling in make the rock look like it is floating and that’s why I call this Space Mountain.

Autumn Speed

Autumn Speed

Roadtrip 2016, Portugal, Azoren, San Migueal.

In the end of the summer time, it does not really cool down on the Azoren, but as you can see, it can look quite like Autumn, even on an island in the Atlantic Ocean.

I had the luck of the leaves laying on the street, and a car swooping by, giving me the speed of the car by it's headlight. I was able to capture this trough a long expo of around 3-4 seconds.

The Douro Valley

The Douro Valley

Roadtrip 2016, Portugal, the Douro.

My love for port wine was one of the reasons we went on this roadtrip. To see with my own eyes, where the beautiful product Port comes from, how it is made and do some tasting when we are at the Vineyards.

I was in for a treat. In this valley, in the Cima Corgo region, are the very best Quinta's located. In this image you can see the beautiful pieces of land, covered with quinta's, a small town, and can you find a small river leading up to the river Douro at the bottom.

Dunes

Dunes

Roadtrip 2016, Portugal, Praia do Osso da Baleia.

Ok I will let you in on a little secret: Praia do Osso da Baleia.
his place has beaches so wide, with nobody on it, its a must see for photographers and travelers.

Staying on a camping just 15-20 min driving, we came here a lot of times. The weather conditioners vary quite a bit, with strong winds almost every day ( normal in Portugal), so you are treated with a lot of different scenes from the beach.

Here I found a line of Dunes, being just highlighted at the right moment by the sun.

Solid Granite Rocks

Solid Granite Rocks

Portugal, Vila Real, 2016.

You don't now it, but sometimes, when you do a little bit of research, you can find yourself learning a lot about your environment. Here I had now idea what this rock sort was, but it turned out to be a very big region of Granite rocks, in the north east part of Portugal.

Beach-rock

Beach-rock

Beach-rock

On a beautiful autumn day in Oktober, we went to visit this beach in Ericeira, Portugal. The tide was getting low during the sunset making this rock visible on the beach.

The lines in the sky and the water moving around the rock give the image a moving aspect.

San Miguel, Azoren, Portugal.

A lava stone dock made for some small boats to dock, if the weather is clear. The clouds that stay inside of the volcano lake, making it look incredibly dark and mysterious.

The Azoren: An unbelievable group of island in the middle of the Atlantic ocean, waiting to be discovered.

Pozo do Inferno

Pozo do Inferno

Going down the mountain path, down to the river, you can find yourself being surrounded by the incredible nature, wet, green and lush, and during autumn, falling leaves all around you.

In the back you can still see the falling water from the Pozo do Inferno, quit a big waterfall from the Rio Ribadil.

I took my wide-angle lens here to capture most of the details in the foreground and to create a dramatic look from a place full of moss, vegetation and water.

Reflection and fog

Reflection and fog

On a trip to the incredible Santuário de Santa Luzia, I was lucky that clouds where rolling in from the country towards the atlantic ocean ( here on the right). The rain had created some pools that I used for creating reflections on the street from the big stone pilar ( 1 of both sides) and in the back the mysterious church

On the stair to heaven

On the stair to heaven

Searching for the right spot, in the mountain clouds, early morning, I found this angle of the stairs, leading up the the incredible Santuário de Santa Luzia. The small little garden with some bushes where visible through the fog and in the back, the large pillar from stone arises from the clouds, but vageuly.

The details of the architecture on the right side, is highlighted by the sun, just pushing through the misty clouds, always moving.

Amarante And Tamega

Amarante And Tamega

A moment I wont forget easily. The timing was just perfect. Checking weather conditions before I leave to catch a sunset is part of my routine. It prepares me for the conditions I am about to see, and I understand that, with the proper amount of clouds, you can have perfect picturesque images of places, normally not that dramatic or interesting for the eye.

Here I’ve waited for clouds to come rolling in. It had been a clear blue sky day all day, not ideal for pictures. The river was super calm, just some leaves dropping on the water to make the surface move and a fish that got out of the water from time to time.

The village Amarante is a super tiny village, with a historical center, really worth a visit ( especially during these autumn times, where leaves turn red/ orange/ yellow and brown).

Igreja Paroquial de São João de Lobrigos

Igreja Paroquial de São João de Lobrigos

The Igreja Paroquial de São João de Lobrigos, also known as the Igreja de São João Baptista, is a stunning example of medieval architecture located in the small village of Lobrigos in Portugal. The church's exterior is a perfect example of the Romanesque style, with its simple, unadorned facade and rounded arches. The main portal is particularly noteworthy, with its intricate stone carvings depicting scenes from the Bible. The portal is also surmounted by a beautiful rose window, which adds a touch of elegance to the facade.

Inside, the church is equally impressive, with its high, vaulted ceiling and ornate altar. The altar is adorned with beautiful gilded sculptures and frescoes, which are believed to date back to the 14th century. The church also boasts a number of interesting architectural features, such as its ribbed vaults, which are a hallmark of the Gothic style.

The Igreja Paroquial de São João de Lobrigos is not only a masterpiece of medieval architecture but also a cultural and historical treasure. It is open to visitors and is a perfect place for photography enthusiasts, as the church offers a variety of angles, light and shadows that can be captured.

In addition to its architectural and historical importance, the Igreja Paroquial de São João de Lobrigos is also an active place of worship, and it is a wonderful opportunity to experience a slice of Portugal's rich religious heritage. If you are in the area, it is definitely worth a visit.

Nazare, famous for its surf swell. The waves can reach incredible hights up till 30 meters! The city around the world famous surfspot is really nice too. It has some cool miami-like buildings and, with the very intens colorful sunset, the white aqua walls and glass windows, create a prefect setting for a nice shot of these 2 palmtrees.
